The Burdens

I don’t know what the answer is.
I’d rather have it that way.
Instead of marching ever so certainly over a cliff.

I don’t know what the answers are.
You know I’ve searched and searched so far.
I taught myself to learn how to think and not be told.

You say you want a life without the burdens.
A life without complexities
Well the next time you tell me that freedom’s not so god damn free
Stop and think what that really could mean and stockpile food and ammunition.

I don’t know what the answer is.
I’d rather have it that way.
Instead of believing in things that don’t exist.

I don’t know what the answers are.
I’ve searched and search so far.
I started taking truth as the authority
Instead of authority as the truth
And now I’m free

The form work has been laid
Quite precisely for control beyond our means
And I don’t want to tell you what to do more than think.
